Nemesis is a hex item in UnderMine.
Nemesis is a hex. Every floor, one of the rooms that contain enemies will contain a new additional enemy, also called the Nemesis.
It has a similar appearance to the Blackguard, except it is red instead of black.
It is possible, though unlikely, to avoid the nemesis in a floor if it spawns in a side room.
As the player progresses through the Undermine, the Nemesis will gain new abilities, initially every other floor starting from Goldmine 3 until the Golden Core is reached, at which point it becomes stronger every floor.
The Nemesis gains the following abilities at the corresponding floors:
- Goldmine 3: Life Leech; the nemesis restores health equal to the damage it deals to the player whenever it hits them.
- Dungeon 1: Removes 5% of the player's gold on hit.
- Dungeon 3: 80% chance to jump and throw a knife at the player whenever it moves away from them. The knife also inherits any abilities the nemesis has.
- Halls 1: Curses the player with
Frailty whenever it hits them.
- Halls 3: The knives now bounce on walls up to 3 times.
- Caverns 1: Now leaves a fire trail behind itself as it moves, and becomes immune to all fire-based ground hazards, including molten gold.
- Caverns 3: Increases move speed by 4, and attack speed by 50%.
- Golden Core 1: Drops a bomb whenever it teleports away.
- Golden Core 2: Throws 3 knives instead of 1, angled away from each other similarly to the pickaxes from
Fork.
- Golden Core 3: Removes a relic whenever the player is hit.
- Golden Core 4: Becomes almost totally invisible. The knives it throws do not become invisible, and the Nemesis will occasionally become briefly visible as a shadow.
